Writing

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Georgina Coburn lived in Canada, the UK and Ireland before settling in the Highlands of Scotland in 2000. Georgina’s work as an art historian, arts writer and critic has consistently highlighted artists forging their own path in the disciplines of Visual Art, Film and Photography.  In 2014 she established her arts blog www.georginacoburnarts.co.uk and has worked with numerous galleries, magazines, and journals including Northings, Artwork, AN Magazine, Cassone, Stravaig, the online journal of the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics, The Scottish Society of Art Historians journal, Film Hub Scotland, Kolaj magazine and The Times Literary Supplement.

In 2018 Georgina’s short story The Projectionist was published in Reel to Rattling Reel: Stories and Poems About Memories of Cinema-Going by Cranachan Press. In 2022 her poem Harvest was published in All Becomes Art- Part One, an anthology of new writing in response to the art of Joan Eardley by Speculative Books.  In January 2024 her first full length work of non-fiction, Journeyman- The Art of Steve Dilworth was published by Francis Boutle Publishers. 

Journeyman- The Art of Steve Dilworth is the first comprehensive investigation of the life and work of this important, groundbreaking artist. Based on five years research and extensive interviews, the story of Dilworth and the evolution of his remarkable work is examined in detail, revealing one of the country’s most innovative and globally significant artists.

Illustration

Georgina Coburn is a visual artist with a background in Art History. Originally from Perth, Western Australia, she lived in Canada, the UK and Ireland before settling in the Highlands of Scotland in 2000. Georgina works with a wide range of media including collage and mixed media, pen and ink, oils, watercolour and printmaking. Georgina has exhibited in group shows in the Highlands, Edinburgh and London, and her illustrations have featured in publications including Feminist Surrealist journal The Debutante, Stravaig, the Geopoetics Society of Scotland Journal and Guardian of the Gateway: 800 Years of the Beauly Wych Elm published by Circus Artspace. In 2025 her collage mixed media work Highland Clearance was selected for the Scottish Landscape Awards exhibition. She is a recipient of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) Natural Eye Bursary (2021–22) and a Visual Artist and Craft Makers Award (VACMA) from High Life Highland and Creative Scotland (2025).
