Born on the Island of Benbecula in 1940 to a long line of storytellers, Flora MacDonald wrote her first work at age 20 by submitting a poem to Parnassus Magazine

Flora MacDonald has written a number of books for children and adults including best seller Cocoa and Crabs. It received global recognition selling 2,000 copies in Britain and 1,000 copies in Japan. The book has earned many accolades and was a prize winner at Glasgow Aye Write Festival in Glasgow, winning third place from 20 authors. It was placed between the shoulders of the late Ian Banks and Iain Rankin.

Most recently, Flora has completed a chronicle of the Nunton region and it’s people which she self published.

Flora is an ongoing contributor of personal stories music, songs, music, textile designs and photography.
