I’m a German-into-English translator, copyeditor and self-published eco-science-fantasy author.
Before becoming a freelance translator, I did a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in the automotive industry for nearly a decade, in the UK, Thailand and Germany.
I was awarded the Goethe-Institut Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom – a C2-level language qualification – in 2007, and received the Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists in 2009.
With my engineering background, I specialise in translating complex technical texts, but I’m happy to work in other fields, too. I’m keen to start translating novels, particularly science fiction.
Just send me your German document, preferably as a Word file, and I’ll give you a quote and a delivery date. I do not translate certificates, or legal/medical/pharmaceutical/construction industry texts. AI-generated texts make me weep and bang my head against my desk, so please don’t send me those. Otherwise, I’m flexible.
I self-published my first eco-science-fantasy novel in 2021. My Shantivira series envisions alternative ways of organizing our economic system to create a fairer and happier society. After I’ve recorded the first three books as audio versions, I’ll be starting work on Book 4 next year.
To keep my linguistic skills sharp and to expand my services, I’m currently working towards Intermediate Level Membership of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.
I passed their ‘Copyediting 2: Headway’ course in March 2026. Now I am actively seeking copyediting work to gain the experience required for this membership level.
