I’m a chronically ill writer and artist with a passion for folklore, myth and magic.
Writing
I write short stories – I particularly love flash fiction – that explores different perspectives in folklore. I’m currently working on my first short story collection. You can find my work published in ‘nobody remembers the birdman’ – New Writing Scotland 40, Northwords Now, Salt & Mirrors & Cats, Crow and Cross Keys and on ‘Ghostlore’ on the Alternative Stories podcast.
Artwork
I love to draw fantastical creatures both in traditional mediums and digitally. I have written and illustrated a children’s poem on the Dirigible Balloon, created illustrated activity sheets for my local library’s Fun Palaces as well illustrating folktales for Northlink Ferries.
‘My sealskin has a song.
It sings through the stone of the walls, the stone of the floors, the wood of the table, the peats of the fire and the iron of the cooking pot. It sings through the snores of my human husband and through the voices of my half-human children. How it sings to me and no amount of human love can hush it.’
