I write about how art and culture can help shape climate crisis narratives.

Having worked as a theatre director for twenty years with a particular interest in environmental and socially progressive storytelling, I have recently completed a PhD focused on climate-aware theatre-making.

I have co-written two books, 100 Plays To Save The World (with Jeanie O’Hare), a collection of short essays about classic and new plays that speak to the climate crisis 100 Plays to Save the World and Performing Shakespeare on an Endangered Planet (with Katherine Steele Brokaw), about how and why Shakespeare can be levered in environmentally-impactful and entertaining ways Performing Shakespeare on an Endangered Planet

I’m currently working on two more books about theatre and the environment.

I also work with various theatre companies and writers developing projects and programming, and am the Associate Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I teach at various universities and drama schools.
