With nearly fifteen years of experience in the academic sector, I am currently a permanent Lecturer in Linguistics and Intercultural Studies at the University of Leeds (UK). I teach various modules on historical linguistics, multilingualism, and (inter)cultural studies. I have been teaching in higher education since 2011, and I am also a Chartered Linguist (CL), a professional designation recognising both my academic expertise and my extensive experience as a freelance linguist.

Initially trained as a translator, I completed an AHRC-funded PhD in Applied Linguistics at the University of Leeds in 2017. Prior to this, I earned a BA in American Studies and Japanese from the University of Turin (Italy) and an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Leeds. In 2025, I was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in recognition of my sustained commitment to excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.

My research expertise lies in historical linguistics, language contact, and the use of language in comic books and video games across cultures and idioms, including English, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. I have published papers on the diachronic use of language in Italian and US comic books, as well as in European video games. My research has led to collaborations with international libraries and associations, including a fellowship at the Library of Congress and archival work at various international comic book libraries. I am currently working on my first monograph, which focuses on topics in historical linguistics.
