Earlier in her writing career, Carol Cooper wrote and edited numerous non-fiction books on child health, parenting, and twins, all topics that are a fusion of her medical expertise and her personal life. One of her co-authored medical textbooks won a BMA award.
Carol also wrote as The Sun doctor for over twenty years and contributed to titles as varied as Punch magazine and The Lancet.
Eventually she fulfilled a lifetime ambition to live in Hampstead and write novels. Carol has three published novels to her name. The most recent, The Girls from Alexandria, draws on her multicultural background.
She makes a return to non-fiction with her latest book, The History of Medicine in Twelve Objects. Another historical title is due for publication in 2026.
Carol loves speaking at live events, and on TV and radio. She enjoys narrating audiobooks too.
She has moved to Cambridge, where she is a Fellow of Newnham College.
