Debra Murphy is a Yorkshire-born author, self-publishing consultant, and speaker, now based in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. She writes across two distinct areas: the Magical Adventures of Florence the Border Collie children’s series, illustrated by Jessica Leech, and adult titles that draw on her own life and experiences.

Her adult books include The Magical Tearoom on the Hill: Recipes, Tales and Adventures, a blend of memoir and recipes from her years running Mother Murphy’s Tearoom in Falkirk; Campervan Capers: Have you turned the water on?, an account of her journey into campervan ownership; Beatrix the Time Travelling Collie; and Who Ate Baby Jesus? All are published under her own Lawers Publishing imprint, and she is a committed advocate for professional independent publishing.

Alongside her writing, Debra offers self-publishing consultancy to other authors through Mother Murphy’s, guiding writers through the process of bringing their books to publication with confidence. She is also an active speaker, a Professional Speaking Association member, and an author member of Alliance of Independent Authors
