I am passionate about our living planet and the world future generations will inherit, so I write a good deal about nature and climate change, but not exclusively.

My speculative novella Aerth was joint winner of the Weatherglass Inaugural Novella Award, judged by Ali Smith, published in January 2025.

My novel The Wilder Path was winner of the Virginia Prize for Fiction 2024 (Aurora Metro Books), published in May 2025. It’s a story about an older woman experiencing personal and climate grief, but it is also a love story.

I also write short fiction – sometimes very short! (as in flash fiction). A number of these have been published both in print and online by independent publishers, and a couple have been prizewinners. To my great joy one of them was also nominated for Best Short Fictions in 2022 – a wry look at the relationship between a homeless person and the local foxes.

Humour is important in my work – particularly as I often deal with very serious subject matter. I like to think I have a “good sense of humour” – but others will have to be the judges of that.

I occasionally write articles too.

I also set up the Bristol Climate Writers network in 2017. I am a confident public speaker and really enjoy doing workshops, meeting people and talking about writing. So please do get in touch if I can be of help.
