Deborah is an author, avid reader, and an academic, with a particular interest in the Gothic, the nineteenth century, history, and feminism.

Her first novel, Dark Waters, was published by Bloodhound Books on 12 September 2024.

Deborah was born in the North East of England and grew up in Sydney, Australia, before life came full circle and she returned to the North East. A lawyer, she has a Masters degree in Dickens studies and recently completed her PhD at Durham University, examining the extent to which the nineteenth century novel was both informed by, and influenced, divorce law reform in England.

She has a love of the works of Charles Dickens and is an active member of the Dickens Society. She lives in Northumberland with her family and her dog Brontë.
