Deborah Santana is an author, business leader, and activist dedicated to peace, justice, and women’s empowerment. Founder of the nonprofit Do A Little, she supports women and girls through education and health initiatives. She is the author of Space Between the Stars (Ballantine, 2005), co-publisher & editor of All the Women in My Family Sing (2018), and author of the new memoir Loving the Fire: Choosing Me, Finding Freedom, which traces her journey from daughter of a pioneering interracial couple to wife of music legend Carlos Santana—revealing how infidelity led her to end the 34-year marriage and engage deeply with her vision for her own life, connecting with her identity and spiritual freedom.

Deborah has produced five short documentary films, four with Emmy Award–winning director Barbara Rick, highlighting education for girls in Africa. A leadership donor to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African AmericanHistory and Culture and a lead investor in San Francisco’s Courage Museum, she champions visibility and opportunity for women and people of color.
