Before becoming a full time writer in retirement and living in Portugal, I spent over twenty years serving as an officer in the Fire Service, followed by almost two decades working within the international space industry in the UK, Germany, France and the USA (Colorado and Alaska).
Writing under the pen name DC Speura, I focus on historical fiction, Irish mythology, folklore and theatre. My historical fiction is centred on first century Hibernia and the interaction between Celtic and Roman cultures. My work has achieved Amazon Top 10 category rankings, including a Top 10 position in Historical Fantasy Fiction. Website: www.speura.com
In addition to my novels, Veni, Vidi, Exitus and Carpe Noctem, I have written full length, one act and ten minute stage plays, including The Loop. I contributed to REWIND, the Indie Authors Ireland charity anthology and am the creator of The Seanachie Club, an ongoing storytelling project dedicated to Irish folklore, mythology and history.
I am an active researcher of ancient Irish history and regularly publish stories and historical content through podcasts, newsletters and social media, reaching readers and listeners worldwide. My folklore podcasts and storytelling projects have attracted thousands of followers and listeners who share an interest in Ireland’s rich cultural heritage.
