After a long career in IT that took me around the world, I retired from the University of Birmingham in 2021 and moved back to my home village in Argyll, after an absence of 60 years. I continue to do some consulting work in Brussels, spending a couple of days most weeks. I am mainly interested in character-driven speculative fiction across various forms, including novels, short stories, screenplays, and, more recently, flash fiction.
My wife of over 40 years was French, and we lived in Paris and other French-speaking places for many years. Even today, I am used to working and writing documents in French, which is why I am interested in translation, from and to, particularly literary works that require cultural interpretation.
