My first book was published in 1993. I have written eleven annual editions of the standard legal textbook Tiley & Collison: UK Tax Guide. I am the author of three editions of Shar Valuation Handbook. I have written another ten titles, giving a total of 41 published books, counting the editions separately. In parallel with my writing, I provided tax consultancy advice to lawyers in practice, and others.

Since retirement from my consultancy practice in 2012, I have written two editions of my books and I continue to contribute to Oxford Dictionary of Law, but my main writing activity has been writing fiction.

Since 2019, I have been living in Granada, Spain.
