Clare Elsom is a children’s author and illustrator based in Devon, England.

She is the creator of the hilarious young fiction series Horace & Harriet, and has illustrated dozens of other children’s books, including the hugely popular Flying Fergus series written by Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy and Joanna Nadin, Furry Friends by best-selling Holly Webb and Excuse Me, Are you a T-Rex? from Scholastic.

Clare regularly visits schools, appears at literary festivals and has been a guest on the CBBC Book Club and Blue Peter. She was a World Book Day competition judge in 2018 and won a Lollies Award for her illustration in 2024. 

She is currently working on a new young fiction series, due to be published in 2027.
