Charli Clement is an award-winning writer and speaker discussing their experiences of disability, neurodivergence and queerness. They particularly enjoy discussions of identity in the context of arts, culture, capitalism and politics.
They have bylines in outlets including the Metro, Independent, Digital Spy, The Canary, The Lead and The i on a variety of topics such as legislative reform, media representation, human rights and identity.
Their first book, All Tangled Up in Autism & Chronic Illness, a guide to life as an autistic and chronically ill person, was published in December 2023 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. Charli is hoping to query their second non-fiction book in late 2025-early 2026. Charli would particularly love to be part of essay collections in the future.
Elsewhere, Charli is a keynote speaker, trainer, panellist and host with clients including Cheltenham Literature Festival, Visa, Scope, Activision Blizzard, and Young Minds. After a traumatic inpatient admission as a teenager resulting in their autism diagnosis, Charli can often be found discussing the psychiatric system and human rights, as well as how to support neurodivergent individuals across society. They work with the NHS, National Development Team for Inclusion, British Institute of Human Rights and Neurodiverse Connection across these topics. In 2023, they were named as a Health Champion on the MHP: 30 under 30 list.
