I’m a novelist, non-fiction writer and award winning playwright, published by Dyrock Publishing and Saraband among others.

Look out for The Curiosity Cabinet and its not-quite-sequel, the Posy Ring, as well as The Physic Garden, the Amber Heart and (possibly my personal favourites) Bird of Passage and Ice Dancing. I’ve recently published the first two novels in my trilogy set in the Canary Isles: Hera’s Orchard and Bitter Oranges.

I live in rural Scotland, researching and writing historical and contemporary novels and non-fiction, in our 200 year old cottage, with its beautiful but untidy garden. I write every day, and blog under my own name about a writer’s life and other things, including the antique textiles I collect and sell. They often find their way into my fiction.

My next project will focus on Finland, where I spent two years teaching English Conversation, back in the 1970s.

I’m married to an artist and woodcarver and our grown-up son is a professional video game designer currently living and working in Sweden.

We’re quite a creative family!
