I write nonfiction that explores the relationship between history, political activism and social change. I’m the author of Veganism, Sex and Politics: Tales of Danger and Pleasure (Intellect, 2019), articles on feminism, drugs, animals, queer community, oral history and revolutionary movements, and academic books on Spanish and Cuban history. I taught history, Spanish and gender studies in UK universities for over two decades and am currently Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of Gender Studies at the London School of Economics.
In addition to my professional writing, I specialise in editing and translating scholarly texts in the humanities and social sciences, academic writing aimed at non-specialist readers, and general and creative nonfiction. I offer substantive and developmental editing as well as copyediting and proofreading for academics, PhD students, other writers and publishers. I am fully bilingual and have worked across Spanish and English for over thirty years. I’ve translated books, academic articles and short fiction from Spanish to English.
