Caroline Gill writes from her Suffolk home, where she lives with her archaeologist husband, David Gill (who is also a member of SoA).

Caroline grew up in England (London, Kent and Norfolk), and has lived in Italy (Rome) and Wales (Swansea). Qualifications include:
- BA Hons. in Classical Studies from Newcastle University.
- PGCE (secondary school) from the University of Exeter.
- RSA TEFL Certificate from the Bell School of Languages, Norwich.

- The Book of Forms: A Handbook of Poetics Including Odd and Invented Forms, Lewis Putnam Turco (4th edition, UPNE, 2012): three poems were included in this publication.
Writing courses
Caroline has taken part in a variety of short writing courses, including:
- courses by Swansea University, Writers Bureau, and the Poetry School
- a course-cum-residency run collaboratively by the Poetry School and the Polar Museum (SPRI, University of Cambridge, 2014).
Prizes and Commendations include:
- First Prize, General Section of the International Petra Kenney Poetry Competition for a sestina, ‘The Figure at the Phoenix Mine’ (2007). Judges: Michael Schmidt, John Whitworth, Alison Chisholm and Morgan Kenney.
- Overall First Prize, ZSL ‘Conservation’ Poetry Competition (2014):‘Raft Race’ on the rare Fen Raft Spider.
- Third Prize, Milestones Competition (2017): ‘Penwith Fingerstone’. Judged by Brian Patten.
- Pushcart Nomination (2014): ‘Elegy for Idris Davies’
