Caroline Corfield was born in Glasgow and has a BSc in Physics. She’s worked onboard seismic survey vessels belonging to an oilfield services company but has semi-retired to the edge of rural Northumberland.
In secondary school she twice won the short essay prize with autobiographical work judged by William McIlvaney. She continued to write during her studies and career as a geophysicist, and is currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing online at Hull University. Of her short stories – ‘The Printer’ was published in the BSFA’s Fission #4 anthology, July 2024 and ‘The Diner’ is out now in BSFA’s Fission #5 anthology. And, ‘A Life of Gogol’ was one of ten chosen by the online Nebula Magazine, under their prompt of ‘Rebirth’ for Mar-Apr 2025.
She has self-published a series of novels set in the near future of an inhabited Antarctica.
