Beth Gardiner is an American author and journalist based in London. Her first book, Choked: The Age of Air Pollution and the Fight for a Cleaner Future, published by Granta Books, was named one of The Guardian’s best of 2019. Her second, Plastic Inc.: Big Oil, Big Money and the Plan to Trash Our Future, is forthcoming in February 2026 from Octopus Books. Beth’s work has appeared in outlets including The Guardian, The New York Times, Huff Post, National Geographic, The Washington Post and Scientific American, and she’s appeared on media including BBC Radio 4’s World at One and Woman’s Hour, Radio 5 Live, BBC News Channel, Sky News and LBC radio. She is a former longtime Associated Press reporter.
