A former medical school academic – my research was in neuroscience (degrees in medicine and medical sciences from Lund, Sweden and London, UK; Ph.D in medial faculty, London University) – I began to translate from the Germanic languages after retiring. To date, I have completed 31 published book translations, both fiction and non-fiction.
My long list of contributions to literary and political magazines includes a period as editor of the review section of Swedish Book Review (2010-15). My nonmedical writing includes articles on literary and environmental subjects, and a book about landscape, identity and environmental policy in Scotland. I am married to a Scot and live in Scotland.
