Anju came to the United Kingdom from India in 1980. She lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her journey to Edinburgh came via Humboldt University in Berlin, when it was part of East Germany.
She is a freelance writer of short stories and children’s picture books.
Aside, she is a literary translator of fiction and narrative nonfiction. She works in three languages – English, Hindi and German. She gained her first professional training as a freelance translator and broadcaster with the BBC World Service, Hindi Section. Since, she left the BBC, she has translated books, stories, articles, memoir and travel writing.
