Angus Konstam is a widely-published author and historian, with over a hundred books in print. He is also one of the world’s leading experts on the history of piracy, and one of Britain’s most prominent naval historians.

The majority of his books are the small military or naval history titles produced by Osprey Publishing, but his canon also includes over two dozen larger history books, many of which are shown here. In addition he has written a dozen history titles in the ‘Historical Atlas’ series, aimed at teenagers, and two Haynes manuals – which he says were great fun to write.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society,  and makes frequent appearances in television, usually as a pirate expert, or a leading authority on naval history. He has appeared at numerous book festival events, and has lectured widely to private groups and corporations, both in Europe and the United States.

Angus is a former Royal Naval officer, but he has also worked as a maritime archaeologist, a museum curator (serving in the Royal Armouries in the Tower of London, and a maritime museum in Key West, Florida). Since 2001 though, he has been a full-time author and historian.

He lives in Orkney, with partner and dogs, in an old farmhouse overlooking Scapa Flow.
