Angie Spoto is an American novelist and poet living in Edinburgh. She writes speculative fiction, including the genres of the gothic, fantasy, folklore and fairy tales, surrealism and historical fantasy. Her debut novel The Grief Nurse is a gothic fantasy that explores the themes of grief, stigma and suicide set against a landscape inspired by Scotland’s coast. With a PhD in creative writing and years of experience working with third sector organisations, Angie is experienced working with adult learners and vulnerable adults; she runs workshops, chairs events, attends panels, provides editorial guidance and participates in residency programmes. Angie has particular experience running creative writing workshops on the theme of death and grief. She is interested in the Scottish coastal gothic, Scottish folklore and fairy tales and women surrealists.
