Andrew Oldham is a disabled writer, journalist and eco-critic. A Jerwood-Arvon nominee for fiction and long-listed for the BBC Short Story Award 2021. His fiction has appeared in Mechanics’ Institute Review and The Times Magazine. He has been heard on BBC Radio Four’s Poetry Please and Channel 4. He has written for The Guardian and contributes on the climate change debate in several publications including The New Statesman

Andrew is also an award winning garden writer, Dr David Hessayon Gardening Columnist of the Year 2022, and has been a regular contributor to Amateur Gardening and Country Smallholder where he writes on the joys and impact of gardening on mental health. His garden website, Life on Pig Row, has been a success in the UK and abroad, and chronicles his day to day life in a rural community.

Andrew has taught on creative writing programmes at several UK universities and his writing has been including in writing programmes in the EU, UK and USA.
