I’m a certified fiction developmental editor and a literary translator with a previous research career in cultural anthropology. I’ve had literary translations, short stories, and ethnographies published.

Speculative (YA and adult) and literary fiction is what I write (and edit). I’m currently working on a speculative YA novel.

The link between my anthropology background and fiction editing and writing is an interest in context, setting, and a sense of place.

I’ve completed over two hundred projects and worked on over fifty books to date. I have over fifteen years of combined writing and editing experience: over ten years as a research scholar in cultural anthropology, and nearly five years as an editorial business owner (day job) and fiction writer (on the side).

• I copyedit YA and middle-grade titles for Penguin Young Readers USA.
• I offer developmental editing, manuscript critiques, and stylistic editing for authors preparing to query or self-publish.
• I’m an occasional member of the New Books in German jury, which selects fiction and nonfiction titles from German-speaking countries for translation funding.
• My main language for literary translation is Croatian, and I made the longlist in the 2022/23 John Dryden Literary Translation competition for Birmingham, translated from Kristina Gavran’s Croatian novel Izmedju.
• I helped secure funding for and participated in the British Centre for Literary Translation’s 2022 summer school for Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian/Montenegrin.
