Amita is a writer, based in London. She writes in two genres: Regency mystery romance and contemporary mystery. The first of her Marleigh sisters series, based in Regency London, came out with Avon/HarperCollins in 2023. The first of her Arya Winters mysteries – Arya Winters and the Tiramisu of Death – came out with Agora in 2021 and has been optioned for TV.
Amita’s mystery novel Thirteenth Night won the Exeter Novel Prize in 2022. A collection called Marmite and Mango Chutney won the SI Leeds Prize in 2016 and it was part-written under a Leverhulme grant based at University College London. Amita has been a Literature Works writer-in-residence at Plymouth University, and taught creative writing at the University of East Anglia. Her stories have been published in Wasafiri, Sand Berlin, Brand, Aesthetica and others. She is a British Council writing mentor, and has been a writer-in-residence with Spread the Word/City of Stories.
