There’s no escaping the fact that celebrity authored fiction titles are big business in children’s publishing. Behind many of these books, there’s a collaboration between a ghost-writer and the celebrity. How does it really work behind the scenes? How can you get work in this area and what sort of terms should you have? And how might we all work together as an industry to ensure best practice when it comes to issues such as crediting and recognising the value of the ghost-writer’s work?
This session also explores the importance of choice when it comes to encouraging children to read for pleasure. How can we ensure children have access to a range of books while celebrity authored titles have a strong presence in the market?
Join Chair of the SoA’s Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group, Abie Longstaff as she chairs this session with authors Jo Nadin and Jo Cotterill, Creative Entrepreneur Kelly-Jade Nicholls, and SoA’s Deputy Chief Executive and Head of the Advisory Team, Sarah Burton.
