Surrey Group: Nammit, Crammit and Supper

8 July @ 12:00 - 14:00 BST

Free

Join the Surrey Group on Tuesday 8 July from 12pm for their next in-person lunchtime meet-up. Writer Andy Charman will talk on historical fiction, language, dialect, names and mindsets.

Crow Court is Andy’s prize-winning and innovative novel set in 19th Century Dorset. It delves into the lives of the residents of Wimborne Minster and the consequences of two mysterious of deaths in the town. But the murder mystery is almost a sideshow in a novel that explores class, theatre, the coming of the railways, gas-lamps and the dying years of an ancient language – local dialect. I’ll talk about the choices one must make using language from a past age and joy of exploring mindsets from a long-gone era.

We’ll meet at The Seahorse, 52-54 The Street, Shalford, Guildford, GU4 8BU.

All writerly and bookish guests welcome!
