Join us for our Winter SoA Lates for the chance to meet and mingle with SoA staff and fellow members and hear a few words from SoA Fellows, Sita Brahmachari and Sarah Waters.

SoA in Person: SoA Lates events – £9.50 for SoA Members
As of February 2025, all SoA in-person social events, Lates, Coffee and Chat and member lunch events will be £9.50 for SoA members and £19.50 for non-members. Attendees will enjoy refreshments and the unique opportunity to network with SoA members and staff.

The Line up
Sita Brahmachari
Sita Brahmachari, is a writer of children’s and young adult fiction and was the winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize (2011). She was Book Trust’s Writer in Residence (2015) and received the UK International Honour for Writing from IBBY (2018). Her multiple award-winning work has been endorsed by Amnesty International, and nominated seven times for the Carnegie Medal (Shortlist 2023). Sita is an associate lecturer in Children’s Literature at Goldsmiths University and a Royal Literary Fund Fellow.
Sarah Waters
Sarah Waters has written six novels including Tipping the Velvet, The Night Watch and The Paying Guests. She has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize, Orange Prize and Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction. Her novel Affinity was also awarded the SoA’s Somerset Maugham Award and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. She served on the Management Committee from 2009 to 2012.

Our Events space is located on the ground floor of our office. We have a wheelchair ramp at the side entrance of the building. We also have an accessible toilet by the side entrance.
