Publishing from an Editor’s Perspective with Katy Loftus – Authors with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses Network Meeting

23 April @ 14:00 - 15:00 BST

Virtual Event
Free

Join us for our next online meet-up on Thursday 23 April from 2pm.

In this month’s meeting, we’ll be having a Q&A with editor Katy Loftus, discussing the publishing industry from an editor’s perspective. She’ll share advice on making the path from offer to publishing day as smooth as possible, including looking at the kinds of accommodations editors make for their authors and how to navigate these. Now a freelance editor, Katy will also talk through what an independent editor can do to support you, including your access needs – whether you’re hoping to be traditionally published, need support with a manuscript you intend to self-publish or want another pair of eyes while under contract.

Katy Loftus is the founder of Katy Loftus Editorial, offering freelance editing and publishing services. She spent 15 years working for the major UK publishers, most recently for Viking at Penguin Random House, where she curated a list of bestselling and award-winning books. In 2021, her last year in-house, she won Editor of the Year at the British Book Awards. She left shortly afterwards and wrote publicly about the impact of corporate publishing on mental health. In her time in London she also co-founded the Penguin WriteNow scheme and the Feminist Book Society literary salon. She writes advice for authors and articles about mental health on her Substack, Katy Loftus on the Margins. ‍
