Gloucestershire Group: From Shelf to Sale
23 April @ 14:00 - 16:00 BST
Free
Join our ever-growing, dynamic Gloucestershire Group on Thursday 23 April from 2 pm for a talk with Leena Batchelor!
Leena is a spoken word artist, published author, poet, and former Worcestershire Poet Laureate. She is the owner of Script Haven bookshop in Worcester, which is a bookshop, a cafe, and an event hub all in one place. Script Haven predominantly supports indie authors and publishers, and it is also a finalist for the Independent Bookshop of the Year 2026 Midlands.
Leena is coming ready to answer our questions about how we can get our books from the shelf to sale. Everything, including what most annoys booksellers about authors? Should we judge a book by its publisher? Are book signings worth it?
Come with your own questions.
Look forward to seeing you there.
We will meet in the ground-floor meeting room within the Monastery Café, Prinknash Abbey, Cranham, GL4 8EX.
The venue has great accessibility: there is a large, free car park, above the café building. Walk down steps or a gentle slope to access the café entrance. The meeting room is immediately to your left on entering, with toilets opposite. The café to the right serves a great selection of non-alcoholic refreshments, delicious cake etc.
If you have accessibility issues, keep driving: there are two disabled spaces just to the left of the doorway. While the café is generously offering us the meeting room free of charge, please bring a plastic card or cash to pay for your own refreshments.
All members welcome!
