Join us for an in-person event hosted by our Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group (CWIG). Catch up with fellow members, chat with the SoA staff team, and hear from our special guest, author Sarah Crossan, who will be sharing insights in her creative process.

All SoA in-person social events, Lates, Coffee and Chat and member lunch events are £9.50 for SoA members and £19.50 for non-members. Attendees will enjoy refreshments and the unique opportunity to network with SoA members and staff.

- 6.30pm – Welcome and introductions from CWIG Chair, Abie Longstaff,
- 6.35pm – Abie Longstaff will host a short in conversation with Sarah Crossan (20 mins). She will share tips about her journey so far.
- 7pm – Mingling and networking

The Line up
Sarah Crossan
Sarah Crossan is an Irish author and verse novelist best known for her young adult fiction, including the Carnegie Medal-winning One. Her novels have been published in over 25 languages and many have been optioned for TV/film. She served as Ireland’s Children’s Literature Laureate (2018–2020). Her latest book is Gone for Good, a YA thriller in verse.

About the Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group (CWIG)
Our Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group (CWIG) is a professional community of writers and illustrators who create content for the children’s publishing market.
We campaign as a group on issues of specific relevance to us, as well as raising the profile of children’s books more generally.
An elected committee directs the work of the group, and it is managed day to day by coordinators Sarah Burton and Hope Norman. Please see the CWIG committee page for details and deadlines for upcoming vacancies.

- Our Events space is located on the ground floor of our office. We have a wheelchair ramp at the side entrance of the building. We also have an accessible toilet by the side entrance.

Feeling unwell?
We recommend the following:
