Brighton and Hove Group: Justine Solomons

Join the Brighton and Hove Group on Wednesday 2 July from 1pm to hear from Justin Solomons, director and founder of Byte the Book, on finding support as an author.

Justine founded Byte the Book in 2012 to help authors get published by making contacts, navigate the contemporary publishing world and understand the latest developments in technology.  With a background in tech business development, her clients included  BBC, Penguin Random House, Cambridge University Press, Lonely Planet, Microsoft and The Telegraph, she has built up an extensive network of authors, publishers, technologists and investors.

Justine will chat about the inspiration behind setting up Byte The Book and how such resources can support authors in navigating the ever-changing publishing landscape—whether traditional, hybrid, or self-published—by breaking down barriers, building networks, and educating around tech. We’re also going to explore what tools and skills authors need to succeed today, going from emerging platforms like Libraro and Shimmr to marketing via social media and how, even those who ‘just want to write’ can find their place in current literary climate.

We’ll meet in the The Regency Town House, 13 Brunswick Square, Hove, BN3 1EH. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, including gluten- and dairy-free options, for a donation of £2 (cash or card).
