The SoA are delighted to be administering the Women's Prize for Fiction 2019.
Founded in 1996, the Women's Prize for Fiction is one of the UK's most prestigious annual book awards for fiction written by a woman.
Entry to the 2019 Prize is now closed.
Changes to the Women’s Prize terms and conditions this year:
The Women's Prize would like to reiterate that it remains dedicated to encouraging entries from as wide a range of publishers as possible. As per the 2019 terms and conditions and as set out in Joanna Prior's letter, if the longlist fee proves prohibitive for a smaller publisher, it can be waived or reduced following a discussion with the Prize in the event of a book being longlisted.
The increased fee for longlisted books will have absolutely no bearing on which books or publishers find themselves on that list. Both the long and shortlist are compiled by a panel of independent judges with no input from the Prize executive and no bearing given to the publishers of the submitted books. It is therefore only at the point of a book being selected for the longlist that a publisher would need to have a conversation with the Prize about the corresponding fee being waived or reduced. These conversations would be confidential and decisions made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Women's Prize Trust.
