SoA Community Hub | Finding your way into writing
5 March 2027 @ 10:30 - 12:30 GMT
£9.50 – £19.50
How do you get yourself from not-writing to writing? The transition often feels tricky, and always deserves attention and care.
In this in-person workshop, hosted by SoA member and writer Emily Troscianko, we’ll explore ways of crossing the threshold into writing—approaches suited to waking up and getting going in the morning, but also useful at other times of day and when facing procrastination, perfectionism, uncertainty, distraction, interruption, or dread at any point in a project.
The session is suitable for writers at any stage and across genres. You’ll test out mini rituals that may support focus, energy, and other ingredients crucial to writing, before designing personal versions that fit your own writing life and projects—and your own instincts about what types of ritual are truly valuable. You’ll also have a chance to get a little bit of focused writing done in the company of other writers.
Dr Emily Troscianko draws on her experience as a writer, researcher and coach, including many years of designing and running writing workshops at the University of Oxford and elsewhere.
Places are limited and subject to availability.
