Laura is a UK based 2D animation designer and children’s author/illustrator. She specialises in creating characters, props, and backgrounds for animated productions, alongside writing and illustrating for children’s books.
Published Works:
Spider Hair is Laura’s debut children’s picture book. She created the book after reminiscing on her childhood habit of wearing animals on her head. Laura is currently working on her second picture book.
Laura has provided illustrations for Not Another Pit Stop by Julian Gerard and Pip Greasley and has recently been commissioned to create a set of illustrations for the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC). She also provides graphic design services.
Laura visits schools and libraries to read Spider Hair and run creative workshops. In 2025 she was a guest author/illustrator at Elmer and Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee exhibition at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.
Animation & Illustration Career:
Studio Production: Worked as a prop designer at Lupus Films.
Historical Series: Served as a design assistant for Mosaic Films, creating backgrounds and props for a BBC Teach History animated series.
Therapeutic Art: Commissioned by Integrated Treatment Services to design “therapeutic illustrations” used by speech and language therapists to prompt child language development.
Software Expertise: Utilises digital tools including Adobe Photoshop and TVPaint.
Personal Background:
Originally from Southern England, she currently resides in the East Midlands. She is inspired by children’s authors, illustrators, old school tv shows and animation. Her illustrative style draws inspiration from iconic animators and artists such as Jules Feiffer, Quentin Blake, Joanna Quinn, and Oliver Jeffers.
