Surrey Group: A Love Letter to the Planet
14 April @ 12:00 - 14:00 BST

A Love Letter to the Planet – the poem that became a play, then a blog, and now a book.
Join the Surrey Group on Tuesday 14 April from 12pm to hear from dramatist, poet and blogger Tony Earnshaw about blogging, blook production and the benefits of juggling genres.
Blogging has become a feature of the writing landscape, and it can create demand for more. Tony’s blog started as a means of increasing his readership – and of imposing some discipline on his writing life. As someone who flits from scripts to poems to novels to memoir, he felt discipline was both needed and often sadly lacking. And now, in response to demand, the blog is a blook, A Love Letter to the Planet – and the people on it. Tony shares something of what has been learnt along the way, along with excerpts from the book.
Tony Earnshaw:
Tony Earnshaw is an award-winning playwright, a poet, librettist, and novelist. These aspects of his work all contribute to the new book, which covers topics ranging from cycling across Kenya to walking the mountains of Cumbria, from world events to the vagaries and idiosyncrasies of the English countryside, and includes a section of rewritten fairy tales, musings on the seasons, memories of Covid, and shared passions for the arts.
