Tufnell Park Writers: Screen Adaptations with Jackie Thornton
4 March @ 19:00 - 21:00 GMT
Free
Come along to the Tufnell Park Group’s next social on Wednesday 4 March at 7pm for a discussion on screen adaptations with Jackie Thornton!
Jackie has assessed hundreds of books being considered for film and TV adaptation and will share her take on what makes a great screen story. We’ll look at some recent examples of novel adaptations on screen and discuss some tips on how to approach translating 300+ pages of novelistic writing into a compelling screenplay while maintaining the story’s core identity.
Jackie Thornton is a development script editor and consultant with over 10 years experience working with companies such as Netflix, Film 4, BFI, Sister, Tiger Aspect and Working Title. Her back catalogue includes shows like Supacell (Netflix) and emerging writers such as Morayo Akande and BAFTA winning Alex Bruce. The two courses in script reading and editing she delivers at NFTS North continue to be popular and she’s keen to devise more.
We will meet at The Lord Palmerston, 33 Dartmouth Park Hill, London NW5 1HU.
