Claire Ladds is a UK-based author of books where the past won’t stay buried, and the motives are always personal.
Claire writes psychological fiction spanning both literary/bookclub and commercial genres, crime, suspense and mystery, as well as dark-edged fiction with an emotional pull. She revels in writing about people with all-consuming, sometimes ominous, obsessions and explores the morally grey areas between innocence and, the murky depths of the psyche and the dark and dangerous thoughts that even seemingly harmless people can harbour in the dark recesses of their minds and hearts. Her books are full of twists and turns that make the characters confront their own realities (and nightmares) and let the reader question where good ends and something more disturbing takes over…
A writer since 2006, Claire’s short fiction has also been published in literary and commercial magazines, and in anthologies. Her short story collection, The Reason for Everything, houses her prize-winning stories together with new ones. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her curled up with a book and cup of tea.
