Boakye D. Alpha is a Ghanaian writer, filmmaker, and creative entrepreneur, and was a Global Voices Scholar at the University of East Anglia (UEA), where he had his MA in Creative Writing. He writes poetry, prose, screenplays, and creative nonfiction and has been published in GUAP Magazine, Lolwe, and The Shallow Tales Review, Lounloun, among others. His short story was longlisted for the 2025 Commonwealth Short Story Prize. Boakye is a Reeves Award Fellow on the 2025-26 Escalator New Writing Fellowship.

With a strong commitment to stories that matter, his work often explores issues of selfhood, gender-based violence, and the lived realities of underrepresented voices.

As a filmmaker, his projects have aired on television networks and streaming platforms across Africa, with some receiving recognition at film festivals and awards, including nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Boakye is also a recipient of the Tony Elumelu Storytellers Fund, the MultiChoice Talent Factory Scholarship for emerging African filmmakers, and the African Union’s MoveAfrica Grant.

In May 2025, he served as a juror for the European Association of Creative Writing Programmes’ 2025 Flash Fiction Contest. He was a member of the Editorial Board of UEA’s Creative Writing 2025 Anthology.

He is currently a proofreader at Shallow Tales Review and Chief Editor with The HummingBird Journal.

Boakye is the founder and director of Creatives Project Gh, an organisation on a mission to provide a platform where young creatives can access resources, support, and opportunities to develop their craft to build sustainable careers.
