About Me
I write dark supernatural, horror, crime thriller, and contemporary tales and am known for blending dark, provocative themes with storytelling that hooks readers from the very first page. Originally from Manchester and now living in the picturesque landscapes of North Wales with my three feline companions—Jasmine, Texas, and Stoker—my work takes readers into shadowy worlds where suspense, fear, and emotion collide.
I published my debut novel, Bonds, the first in her acclaimed supernatural series, in 2013. I followed up with three further instalments—Broken Bonds, Bonds Re-Bound, and Eternal Bonds—creating my dark supernatural series, which seamlessly blends romance, danger, and the dark unknown.
I took one of the complex characters from the Bonds series into her own tension-packed series: The Ellie Lawrence supernatural crime thriller series. Ellie is a private investigator and werewolf who tackles both real-world crimes and supernatural mysteries, blending suspense with dark, paranormal intrigue. Fans of supernatural thrillers and gripping crime stories will find themselves captivated by Ellie’s journey.
Beyond long-form fiction, I have gained a reputation for delivering bite-sized horror with my Tales From A Scarygirl short story collections. In 2024, I brought to life a contemporary romance story I penned during Covid. Chasing Rainbows is a heartfelt tale of Jessie Ellis rebuilding her life and finding an unexpected second chance at love. It is the first volume in the Potters Hole series.
Writing under the pen name M A Cope, I have also created The Misfits, an enchanting series for younger readers, where a quirky group of supernatural friends embark on life-affirming adventures.

Developmental Editor
I have spent thousands of hours studying how authors construct their stories, and how they build their characters and the worlds they inhabit, learning what draws me to want to read on and what doesn’t, and what makes a character live on in my heart rather than wander off into the sunset. A book needs to come alive in my head and draw me into the action, following the protagonist as they go on their journey; seeing what they see, doing what they do, and feeling what they feel. Point of view, pace, characterisation and story development are some of the many things I will look at as I assess your novel and work with you to shape your story into one that will live on in the hearts and minds of your readers for years to come.
As an experienced developmental editor, I will provide structured, professional feedback in a timely manner, with regular communication, allowing you to take your novel to the next stage of development.
If you are struggling to start or even finish your novel, I can also help. From the initial stages of mapping out your idea into a fully fledged storyline, to helping identify why your story isn’t working, or why you’ve hit a roadblock, my one-to-one coaching can help bring order to your chaos. Drop me a line and we can have an initial chat about your needs before you make any commitment.
If you write thrillers and fantasies, dark paranormal or supernatural tales, then choose me as your developmental editor and/or book coach.
