I am the author of three published works:

A memoir: Songs and Secrets: South Africa from Liberation to Governance, Hurst, Jacana Media (2012)

A novel: The List, Jacana Media (2018)

A novel: At Fire Hour, Jacana Media (2023)

I have an MA and a PhD in creative writing. I currently freelance as an editor and proofreader, based in Bangor in North Wales. I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

I’m originally from South Africa; was an anti-apartheid activist; spent 15 years in exile (a good part of it in London); worked variously with the African National Congress, the South African liberation movement; returned to South Africa in 1991; and served in various senior positions in the post-apartheid civil service until my retirement. I started my creative life as a singer/songwriter.

I edit fiction, nonfiction, memoir, academic theses, poetry, and more. My next writing project – a novel – is brewing in my head.
