Sophie Buchaillard is the author of two novels, a dozen creative essays and a poetry collection. Her debut novel This Is Not Who We Are (Seren) was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year and the title poem of her poetry collection, Painting over the cracks was shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize. 

She came to writing in her 40s, having had multiple careers, including in campaigning for the rights of students and for a sustainable Wales. She holds a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from Cardiff University where she has taught. She lives in South Wales and partners with artists and organisations to grow communities around writing, making and food.
