North East Group: In-Between The Glitter – Self-publishing as a writers’ collective

Join the North East Group on Saturday 1 November at 11am (doors from 10.40am), for a session led by authors Sheelagh Aston and Sarah Nicholson on self-publishing as a writers’ collective.

Sheelagh Aston – A life-long scribbler Sheelagh published her first book, Natural Talent, a YA crossover in 2008 before taking time out to bring up her family. In 2019 she returned to writing. In August 2025 she published her contemporary suspense novel, In-Between Girl with Resolute Books. She is currently working on the sequel. Sheelagh lives in the North-east with her Labrador.

Sarah Nicholson – After the unexpected death of her husband in 2010 Sarah started blogging. She unravelled and re-ravelled for over ten years before finally publishing her memoir In Search of Lost Glitter with Resolute Books. A series of short stories, many only 100 words long, telling the story of her life and how she put the pieces back together when things keep falling apart. In September 2024 ‘In Search of Lost Glitter’ won the Ink Book Prize for best non-fiction book.

We will meet at the Lit and Phil Library, 23 Westgate Road (next to Bolbec Hall), Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1SE. It’s less than one minute from Newcastle Central Rail Station and the Central Station Metro. Turn right and walk for less than a minute, and the Lit and Phil is on the corner of Westgate Road, Orchard Street/Neville Street, next to Neville Hall.
