Join the Swansea Group at our next online meeting on Thursday 6 November from 7pm for a conversation with writer and educator Sophie Buchaillard, who will be speaking to Marta Dziurosz about literary festivals.

We’ll discuss:

  • Literary festivals in Wales
  • How writers can participate
  • Formalities to remember

Sophie is a socially and ecologically conscious artist, educator and writer, and the author of two novels, a dozen creative essays and a poetry collection. She came to writing in her 40s, having had multiple careers, including campaigning for the rights of students and for a more sustainable Wales. At the age of 46, Sophie obtained a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from Cardiff University. Since then, she has been partnering with artists and organisations to grow communities around writing, making and food.

Her debut novel This Is Not Who We Are (Seren) was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year, and Painting over the cracks (Lucent Dreaming), the title poem of her debut collection, was shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize. Sophie is a former Hay Festival Writer at Work.
