Writer
Short fiction writer

A life-long clandestine scribbler, retirement from educating people gave me the time and opportunity to emerge hesitantly into the community of writers. At a local group, under the guidance of Victoria Hendry, I found some fellow would-be authors and some of us stuck together through the BBC Masterclass series with the wonderful Allan Moore, and some OU modules in Creative Writing. During this time I was encouraged to enter the Scottish Arts Trust Short Story competition, (now The Edinburgh Writing Awards) and to my great surprise, I won the Isobel Lodge Award. This gave me the validation I apparently needed to call myself a Writer.

I am now working on stories inspired by the colourful lives of my grandparents.
