In July 2023 my family memoir, The Tennis Champion Who Escaped the Nazis, was published by AdLib (now part of Gemini Books). It was Ysenda Maxtone Graham’s Book of the Week for the Daily Mail (‘I couldn’t put this book down…this is an unforgettably touching story’). I was interviewed on BBC Breakfast, BBC World Service and BBC Sounds podcast, and for the website of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, and six BBC local radio shows. I have spoken at 25 literary festivals.
The book’s first chapter won Mslexia magazine’s themed writing competition in July 2020, received an award in the memoir category of the 2025 BookFest Awards, and first place for Non-Fiction (Biography) in the Pencraft Awards 2025.
The book has been translated into Czech, but I am now looking for a publisher in Germany or Austria, France, Spain and Italy.
I am currently working on two new books. The first is a true family saga based on the inventor of the touchscreen, and how his discovery came about through adversity. The story takes place over a hundred-year period, and explores the concept that genius flourishes in an unorthodox environment.
The second is a memoir and a sequel to The Tennis Champion Who Escaped the Nazis.
My background is in travel writing, and I have written for every national newspaper in the UK as well as a variety of lifestyle magazines. I have co-written 25 travel guidebooks with my husband – published by Which? Books, Cadogan Guides and Debrett’s. I currently produce and co-host a podcast called Action Packed Travel.
