Fiction

My epic fantasy novels, first published by HarperCollins in 1995, include the Dragoncharm saga, which explores a magical prehistory where dragons ruled the skies, and Stone & Sky, which transports its Victorian hero to the vertiginous slopes of a world-sized wall where the memories of all humanity are stored.

If crime is more your thing, plunge into my interdimensional thriller String City, or rub shoulders with the world’s first detective in the prehistoric murder mystery Talus and the Frozen King, both published by Solaris Books.

I’ve also written a number of short stories and novelettes, including Castellia, first published in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Girl in Pieces, which made the longlist for the Nebula Awards.

An experienced ghostwriter, I work under pseudonym with editorial teams and book packagers. I have ghostwritten over 15 published novels for younger readers, including the acclaimed fantasy trilogy Crown of Three, and the award-winning School of Alyxa.

Non-Fiction

From 2013-2021, I was senior staff writer at Cinefex magazine, researching and writing long-form articles on the making of major motion pictures and TV series, including Star Trek Beyond, Alien: Covenant, The Shape of Water, Black Panther, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Game of Thrones and Terminator: Dark Fate. Since then, I have published e-magazines featuring in-depth coverage of films including Godzilla vs Kong and The Matrix Resurrections.
